Highweek Garage was established in 1939 by the Hutchings family who still own and run the business to this day. The early beginnings were as a petrol forecourt, small workshop and taxi service, serving the local community. In 1971, the late Derek Hutchings took on the Simca Agency. In 1973, after visiting the motor show and liking what he saw, he approached Toyota and became a Toyota Dealer, a business partnership that was to last for over 28 years.
In 2003, the family were approached by Toyota's compact car division, Daihatsu, and subsequently became Daihatsu Dealers in late December of that year. In 2005, their second full year with Daihatsu, they were awarded Region 4 Dealer Of The Year in recognition of their achievements.
Despite the change to Daihatsu, the sales department still specialises in the sale of used Toyotas, particularly Yaris, Corolla, Avensis and Rav4. Some of the existing Toyota Customers still like to purchase their new Toyotas through Highweek, testament to the friendly and professional attitude of the dealership staff.
