Highweek Garage was established in 1939 by the Hutchings family who still own and run the business to this day.

In 1973, following several years selling Simcas, Highweek Garage became Toyota Dealers and remained so for over 28 years.

In 2003, the family were approached by Toyota's compact car division, Daihatsu, and subsequently became Daihatsu Dealers in late December of that year.

In 2005 Highweek Garage was awarded Region 4 Daihatsu Dealer Of The Year in recognition of their achievements. In 2008 Highweek Garage was again awarded Region 4 Daihatsu Dealer Of The Year

November 2009 sees the addition of the Proton Franchise Highweek Garage become Proton Dealers for Proton Sales, Service and Parts, covering Newton Abbot, Torbay, Dawlish, Teignmouth, The South Hams and the A38 from Exeter down to Ivybridge
